DESCRIPTION:

Kathleen Dunphy’s much anticipated solo show, EBB AND FLOW, opens October 2nd at the Knowlton Gallery. The oil paintings in this show were painted over a year’s time frame and include plein air and studio landscapes as well as still lifes.

Kathleen explains her show by saying: “Modern life has a way of removing us from nature: we go from our air-conditioned car to our air-conditioned house; we buy packaged food in the grocery store miles from the fields where it was grown; we watch weather phenomenon unfolding from the safety of our computer screens. Painting is my way of re-connecting with nature. I'm fortunate that as a plein-air painter, I'm required to be in nature--to stand out in the elements and attempt to capture the beauty of the world in real time. Each season has its own particular attraction, and I never tire of watching the ebb and flow of these infinite cycles.”
