TIDEWATER’S SEPTEMBER EXHIBIT IS AN “ECLECTIC AFFAIR”

Downtown Stockton’s Tidewater Art Center & Gallery presents an eclectic collection of art from Babbette Thompson, a member of the Board of Directors and an artist in her own right. This unique exhibit opens on September 7 and continues through October 1. A “Meet-the-Artists” wine and hors d’oeuvres reception is open to the public on Friday, September 10, from 5-8 p.m.

A free lance artist, Thompson is known for her work in local theatres designing and painting sets for stage plays, including at Stockton Civic Theatre. She also creates window displays, gallery settings, and even designs and creates table settings for receptions and special events. Her work is very creative and often highly flamboyant. This extends into her art works as well.

Her choices of media are varied, depending on mood, discipline, and what’s available at the time inspiration strikes. She works in watercolor, acrylic, clay, and even Styrofoam. Says the artist, “Life is too varied to hold ourselves down with one choice of creativity. The world is eclectic – so are we all.”

Come by the gallery and see some of Thompson’s choices, including an eclectic display of paintings and provocative sculptures.

The Tidewater Art Center & Gallery, an artists’ collaborative located directly across the street from the county Courthouse at 223 E.
