Stockton Chorale Sing Mendelssohn's Lobgesang

Event Type: Music/Concerts

Date: Friday, March 19, 2010 - Sunday, March 21, 2010
Location: Quail Lakes Baptist Church and St Johns Episcopal Church in Lodi

The Stockton Chorale will perform the choral works of Mendelssohn's "Lobgesang" on Friday March 19 and 21. The concerts will also include works performed by the Master Chorale and the Youth Chorale.

The "Lobgesang" is a Hymn of Praise written by Felix Mendelssohn in 1840 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the invention of printing. The themes focus on praise and gratitude to God for spiritual and intellectual light, coming out of the long dark ages, and redemption of humanity.
This is an uplifting and popular work that is frequently performed by chorale groups around the world. This chorale work will feature soloists Rinata Bricka, Diane England and Rick Campero.

The Stockton Chorale, founded in 1951, is a nearly 100 member community chorus of singers from the Central Valley, Contra Costa County and the Sierra Foothills. The Conductor of Stockton's Master Chorale and Assistant Conductor of the Stockton Chorale, Curtis Mannah, will be conducting the Stockton Chorale for this performance and serving as interim Music Director while Dr. Edward Cetto is on sabbatical.

This double performance will be held 7:30 PM on Friday March 19, 2010 at the Quail Lakes Baptist Church, 1904 Quail Lakes Drive, Stockton and at 3:00 PM on Sunday March 21, 2010 at St John's Episcopal Church, 1055 S. Lower Sacramento Road, Lodi.

Single concert tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students.
