Since 1989, the Alzheimer's Association has mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk. Now, the Association asks you to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer's, the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support, and research. The Walk to End Alzheimer's calls on people of all ages to take action in the fight. The Walk is a non-competitive, community-wide event, raising funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association year round. Our team captains, walk participants, volunteers, and sponsors are leaders in the effort to defeat this mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially devastating disease. The Alzheimer's Association is the largest private funder of Alzheimer's research and the leading voice for Alzheimer's disease advocacy at the federal and state levels. The Association also has local branches throughout the United States that provide local services like a 24-hour helpline, support groups, educational workshops, care consultation, and caregiver training.

Alzheimer's disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the country across all ages. It is progressive and is the only cause of death among the top 10 in the United States that cannot be prevented, cured, or even significantly slowed. Currently, 5.4 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's, and by the year 2050, the number of Americans affected is projected to triple unless serious medical breakthroughs are made. Every 69 seconds, someone in America develops Alzheimer's.Families, businesses, and organizations throughout Stockton and San Joaquin County have been touched by Alzheimer's disease and have become impassioned to come together to make our first Walk a great one. Our goal is to raise over $80,000 to support the programs and services of the Alzheimer's Association, as well as to support the research needed to make a world without Alzheimer's a reality. For more information on Alzheimer's disease and dementia, please visit our website at www.alz.org.  You can also register online for the Walk or make a donation at www.alz.org/walk.
