Four of the top pastel artists from Northern California –- Kim Lordier, Gil Dellinger, Clark Mitchell and Terri Ford -- will be exhibiting together in Things Remembered, a two-month show at the Knowlton Gallery. All four artists are nationally collected members of the Pastel Society of America and have received numerous awards for their work.
“I began several paintings,” explains Terri Ford “with the concept of revisiting subjects that I have painted before but still continue to want to explore, most notably is Desert Indigo. This is a subject from a trip I took to Palm Springs 20 years ago. The images I captured during an evening storm have continued to provide inspiration for paintings all these years later.”
Clark Mitchell has been looking over his, “plein air and studio sketches, scenes I’d always wanted to get back to, finished paintings that I feel I could improve on now with years of experience.
I’m mulling over some terrific photos I took of a glorious old carousel under autumn coastal hills; a sweet juxtaposition of familiar countryside and Old World charm. The challenge of such an intricate scene calls to me more than it would have ten years ago. I’m eager to jump in and test myself, see if I can take my newest paintings to a fresh level of proficiency.”
Each artist will have 6 – 10 pieces in the show.
