The University of the Pacific's Reynolds Gallery presents “Kay Kang: Resonance.” This exhibition runs Mar. 2 – April 12, 2010. Please join us for a catered reception on Friday, March 19th, from 6-8 pm. The Reynolds Gallery is located in the Jeannette Powell Art Center at 1071 W. Mendocino Ave. in Stockton. Regular gallery hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm and weekends 1-5 pm. Admission is always free. Kay Kang was born in Seoul, Korea, and now lives and works in San Francisco. “Resonance” explores her journey to assimilate within American society, as well as the struggles experienced by women in Korea’s historically patriarchal society. Her work interrogates the disappointment that often greeted the birth of girls in Korea, and the traditional custom of giving girls male names.
