Stockton Constructed Wetlands
| Birdwatching at the Wetlands |
For years, hundreds of bird enthusiasts have flocked to the oxidation ponds at the Stockton Wastewater Treatment Facility for birdwatching. Stockton has added a Wetlands to the facility to assist in the effort to treat wastewater and make the area more inviting for birds and birdwatchers. A recent baseline bird count by the Audubon Society recorded over 7,300 birds representing 55 species.
While the public is welcome and encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity, the area is a secured facility and visitors must first sign-in at the Plant Administration Building located at 2500 Navy Drive (MAP). From there you will be directed to the Tertiary Ponds. Plant Administration Building Office Hours: 7 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday For more information please call 209.937.8746. |
