Artist Talk with Jonathon Bout
Overview
In association with the Horton Art Gallery's exhibition, "Southeast Asian Diaspora Resiliency", exhibiting artist Jonathon Bout will present images and discussion of his work. Bout received his BA in Studio Art and Art Education at Humboldt State University, and a Master of Fine Arts from Francisco State University. Working primarily in drawing and oil painting, his representative style exaggerates or alters film-like qualities, informed by the aged photographs of his relatives and distant family he reinterprets. Through a process of collecting and re-documenting, his work reflects on the visual commonalities of how we record and interpret our histories and culture.
