Contemporary Filipino American Art: Artist Talk & Gallery Tour

Located on the campus of San Joaquin Delta College, the Horton Art Gallery presents an exhibition and artist talk on Contemporary Filipino American Art. In this culminating exhibition event, exhibiting artist Michelle Natividad Stein will provide a visual presentation of her artwork that investigates identities and traditions passed down in Filipino culture.

Through the medium of furniture and domestic objects, paired with historical research, her work creates dialogs that address the psychological damage of acculturation and the liberation of feminist ideas. Through her work and this presentation, she hopes to bring more awareness to Filipino arts, culture, history, and the Filipino diaspora.

Following a 50-minute presentation, Michelle will provide a Gallery tour of the accompanying exhibition, which includes Filipino American artists:

Michael Arcega
Eliza O. Barrios
Mic Diño Boekelmann
M.O.B. / Mail Order Brides
Maia Cruz Palileo
Kim Requesto
Juan Santiago
Michelle Natividad Stein
Pamela Ybañez

Thank you to the San Joaquin Delta College CTA for co-sponsoring this exhibition.

Admission to the Gallery exhibition, reception, and events are free and open to the public.
