San Joaquin Delta college Dance department, Stockton Delta Dance and Yameci Dance Company present "Metamorphosis" to take place on April 22 and 23 at 8pm in the SJDC Atherton auditorium. The very first dance production in the last 2 years. Many of the arts, particularly dance, have been impacted by the pandemics. Our dance community is now resurfacing, and we are thrilled to finally be back and present "Metamorphosis". This dance performance is a representation of what we have recently experienced and what the journey of life is all about. A perpetual evolution and quest to find oneself in the mist of tumultuous circumstances, societal tenets, family, religion, and many other factors that very often hold us back. Yes, life is a transformational process that only ceases when we are no longer.
As one navigates the struggles of life, one strives to find that little inner place that is filled with happiness. Invisible to the naked eye, how would this look like to the common person: Metamorphosis!
Under the direction of Valerie Gnassounou, Delta faculty and guest artists are collaborating on this journey: Philip Agyapong, Nicole Manker, Antione Miller, Kimberly Beaird ( Notorious SDT-Stagg High school Dance Team) and Tami Stark-McQueen (Able Charter school group).
The event is free, but donations are welcome. A silent auction will also take place during these two days. This fundraising event is to support our dance students to a cultural trip to West Coast of Africa next Summer.
