Overview
The Hippodrome Actor's Studio is a regular, dynamic acting workshop for students and adults that fosters artistic growth, builds a vibrant creative community, and elevates the caliber of local theatre through accessible, high-quality training inspired by the prestigious Actor’s Studio in NYC.
The Actor’s Studio will meet every other week, and cater to both novice and experienced actors. Each session will provide participants with practical tools, techniques, and hands-on experience to develop their craft. The program offers a safe, collaborative space for actors to refine their skills, explore creative expression, and grow personally and professionally.
Participants will have the flexibility to select and work on material from a wide variety of sources, including:
Plays (classical and contemporary)
Novels or short stories
Operas or ballets
Teleplays or screenplays
Songs or poetry
Original works written by the participants
Actors may choose to rehearse and direct their scenes or perform them unrehearsed, with or without staging. Students can work independently or with partners of their choosing, allowing for personalized and diverse creative exploration. After each presentation, workshop members will provide constructive feedback, guided by the facilitator to ensure a supportive and enriching environment.
