Stockton has a long history of artistic and cultural events, activities, and engagement.
Situated in Downtown Stockton, the Mexican Heritage Center and Gallery welcomes residents and visitors to experience the diversity of Mexican culture. Art, dance, and music combine to honor the traditions held dear by our friends and neighbors to the south and their descendants living here in California.
This monthly outdoor marketplace (Third Saturdays, April - September) features local makers, musicians, and culinary geniuses. Taking over a stretch of the Miracle Mile (along Pacific Ave.), friends and families enjoy unique offerings by new and varied vendors as well as established shops. Stockmarket is one of the locals' favorite ways to enjoy art and culture in our beloved Port City.
For over 60 years, Stockton Civic Theatre (SCT) has wowed audiences with high-quality live performances. With 5 shows each year, and each running multiple weekends, there is plenty of opportunity to catch some of the Central Valley's best talent on stage. Check out the youth summer productions, too, and see the next generation of Broadway stars right here in Stockton.
Japanese culture is on display during the Stockton Obon Bazaar & Festival each August. Colorful kimonos, spectacular art, and beautiful music combine to bring a little bit of Japan to Stockton. Sponsored by the Stockton Buddhist Temple, everyone is welcome and the demonstrations are a must see!
Currently undergoing a $2.5M renovation, The Haggin Museum is a hidden gem that deserves the spotlight. A fine art and local history museum, it also hosts a fantastic array of traveling exhibitions. Special events and free admission days are also available. Stay tuned for more information on the renovation reveal coming at the end of summer in 2017!
Featuring an eclectic mix of amateur, professional, and semi-professional artist works, the Goodwin Gallery is the perfect stop for art lovers.
