Let your sweet tooth lead the way and it will lead you to Stockton, California, a town full of flavor that is sure to satisfy your Sunday-morning craving or after-dinner affection for confection. Stockton is packed with enticing, mouth-watering offerings, so finding just the right snack is as easy as, well, pie. These are the five best places you want to visit and know you're going to indulge in something sweet.

1. Toot Sweets Bakery and Cafe

Toot Sweets Cafe bakes everything from scratch—brownies, cookies, éclairs, pies, cheesecake and, of course, its famous classic birthday cakes. It’s all made with fresh, wholesome ingredients. Voted best in San Joaquin County on multiple occasions by the local press, the town favorite is celebrating 40 years of baking perfection. Toot Sweets Bakery is located at 4755 Quail Lakes Dr., Ste. D in Quail Lakes Shopping Center, (209) 474-6692.

2. Paleteria Y Neveria La Michoacana

Paleteria Y Neveria La Michoacana is eclectic parlor adding the spice of life to ice cream, literally. Mangonada is the Mexican frozen dessert that unites spicy and sweet for a dessert experience like no other. But that’s not the only treat that has customers coming back. Stop in to try the tequila and rose petal ice creams, the Oreo popsicle or the shop’s impeccable classic root beer float.

Paleteria Y Neveria is located at 2219 W. Alpine Avenue, (209) 948-2219.

3. M & W Dutch American Bakery

Just a short walk from the University of the Pacific, tucked away in an unassuming shopping center, lies M & W Dutch American Bakery. When it comes to dessert selections, this bakery can’t be beaten. Desserts are available by the slice or as a whole dessert. There is limited seating inside, so we suggest grabbing a bite and saving it for later in the day. Either way you slice it, you can’t go wrong at this charming bakery. We recommend the sugar cookies for both cuteness and being delicious!

M & W Dutch American Bakery is located at 4343 Pacific Avenue, Ste A6, in University Square Plaza, (209) 473-3828.

4. Gleason’s Ice Cream

With its flagship location on Seirra Nevada Street, Gleason’s Ice Cream is the cafe-style parlor from the past serving up the newest local fad of the present, asparagus ice cream (when in season of course!). Grab one of the famous half-pound California super cones or try the delicious ice cream sandwiches or refreshing rainbow shaved ice.

Gleason Ice Cream has two locations to service you; one found on 447 E. Weber Avenue and the other on 501 N. Sierra Nevada Street.

5. Qiang's Bakery

For a more hidden, hole-in-the-wall style bakery that serves more than baked goods: Qiang's Bakery has it! This bakery is a feast for the senses when it comes to homemade sesame balls, egg tarts, fresh turnovers, and moon pies to satisfy that sweet tooth craving. The freshly baked breads are made using traditional methods and this is apparent in the taste and texture. No visit to Qiang's Bakery is complete without picking up a few super soft steamed pork and chicken buns, and be sure save a few for lunch! This is a cash only establishment.

Qiang's Bakery is located at 707 E March Lane in the Holiday Plaza Shopping Center, (209) 478-7088.
