Visiting a local museum or art house can be quite the experience. Seeing the works of a talented artist can open one's mind to the beauty and creativity humantiy is capable of. Plus, there's the bonus of a having a connection when the works are done by local artists. This can also inspire you to create your own artistic pieces, and Stockton houses great spots that provide you the space to display your talent. Here are just a few of those venues for you to check out!
Housing numerous works of art from featured local artists, the Stockton Art League & Goodwin Gallery on Stockton's Miracle Mile also features a space for artists to create their future works. For the young future artists, their Youth Art Program provides art education classes to students ages 6-17. Additionally, their Learning in Transition Program works with Stockton Unified School District Young Adults in Transition program for students ages 18-24 with special needs. Plus, there's the Visiting Artist Workshops Program, where regional artists teach comprehensive workshops, providing the community with access to artistic techniques and potential mentors.
Haggin Museum is a well known iconic and historic landmark in our city. It houses an abundance of amazing art pieces and historic artifacts dating back centuries, making it a beacon of both art and history. Moreover, the Haggin holds their special "2nd Saturday" events from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Designed for children ages 5-12, this event feature hands-on events for the entire family. Activities include art projects, interactive programs, and museum-wide events. This is a "first come, first served basis" and materials and activities are included with regular admission to the museum. Definitely a lot of artistic fun for the whole family.
Hatch Workshop prides itself on being an open space for artistic creators of all levels. They provide hands-on classes taught in wood, metal, ceramics, digital fabrication, digital arts, and more. The two memberships they offer provide communal workspaces, production assistance, discounts on future events, and 10' x 12' private workspaces for rent that are accessible 24 hours a day. While providing a tranquil venue for yoga, it also provides a space for artistic minds alike with their art workshops and shows—including their Wednesday Night Life Drawing classes.
