Guest Blog: A Local’s Guide to Stockton Restaurant Week

Guest blogger Rachel from Edible Hours highlights her favorite places to check out during Stockton Restaurant Week.

This year we’re celebrating ten years of Stockton Restaurant Week! There’s an amazing lineup of local restaurants and with only ten days to explore, it can be really overwhelming. Below you’ll find some of my favorite menu items to feed all your Stockton Restaurant Week cravings.

Breakfast, Brunch and that Yolk!

Poached eggs are my absolute favorite and in the Stockton Restaurant Week lineup, you won’t be disappointed.

Check out Blackwater Café for their Country Style Benedict. This cute café serves up their $12 Restaurant Week Benedict with sausage gravy layered over perfectly poached eggs sitting on sausage links and fluffy biscuits. If you’re looking for comfort food this is the Benedict for you!

For a fresh and light way to get your yolk on head to the Kitchen at Stonebrier for their avocado toast. This special $10 meal celebrating ten years of Stockton Restaurant Weeks serves up avocado toast with goat cheese, poached egg and smoked salmon for a beautiful marriage of flavors and a great start to your day.

Lunchtime pick me up.

When I go out to eat I love being able to enjoy the time out with friends. Whether it’s a break from work with co-workers or a weekend outing with the girls gathering around a great meal is always a treat.

Head to Seoul Soon Dubu for some delicious Korean food! Choose their $23 lunch/dinner special and you’ll be treated to an assortment of small dishes called banchan to start your meal. Banchan is the perfect way to explore Korean flavors and they’ll refill them for you if you have a favorite, or if you’re just really hungry. At this Miracle Mile hotspot, you’ll also get to choose an appetizer, main course and flavor of ice cream for dessert. My go to is always potstickers as an appetizer, beef bulgogi for the main and chocolate for dessert. No matter what you choose you’ll leave feeling full and satisfied.

A hop skip and a jump from Seoul Soon Dubu you’ll find another great lunch spot, Fat City BBQ and Grill. Grab their $10 burger special or jump straight to their dinner special that feeds two for just $20- with two meats, two sides and a muffin to split- it’s a food coma waiting to happen. You don’t have to wait for dinner to order that meat plate though, if you’re feeling hungry step right up and take it on for lunch!

For a lighter lunch that is packed with flavor head to Superfish Poke & Tea. Poke is a great way to eat fresh fix mixed with veggies over a bed of lettuce or your choice of brown or white rice. It’s like chipotle for fresh fish. The special $16 restaurant week special also includes miso soup, a crunchy poke taco and jasmine milk tea. With endless combinations you’ll never get bored eating Superfish!

Delicious dinner dining experiences.

Some nights you just want to go out with friends, have a great meal and catch up. For those nights restaurant week has you covered.

For a relaxed feel and cold pitchers of beer with your meal head to Michael’s New York Style Pizza. They’re serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner options for restaurant week but their $35.75 dinner deal is amazing. You’ll receive a large Triple Threat Pepperoni Pizza, salad OR wings and a large pitcher of soda for the family to share. This meal could easily feed a hungry family or group of friends.

For a romantic date night Lincoln Center has you covered with some great restaurant week participants. Check out Prime Table for their $35 three course meal of organic baby lettuce to begin, a huge 8-ounce prime rib with two sides and a delicious dessert of cheesecake. This meal will definitely impress.

If you’re ready for a truly special evening out and want to spoil yourself or your significant other try out Midgley’s Public House for their four course dinner for $55. Start with a refreshing prawn cocktail and ease into your choice of soup or salad before you’re presented with a 6-ounce filet mignon with truffle compound butter and mashed potatoes, but don’t forget to save room for some delicious chocolate mousse as you end your night on a sweet note.

No matter what you choose for Stockton Restaurant Week you’ll be in for a treat as our local restaurants present their special menus and pricing through January 27. For the list of restaurants participating and their menus visit StocktonRestaurantWeek.com.
