The COVID-19 pandemic has shown just how vital our small businesses are. It's also outlined how they need our support. Visit Stockton has teamed up with the City of Stockton's Economic Development Department to launch Stockton Small Business Week May 2 - 8, 2021.
Small businesses have been hit especially hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Between closures, limited capacities and staffing issues, many of these integral parts of our community's character have found it difficult to continue operating. Stockton Small Business Week targets both customers and business owners with different events that all have the same goal: helping our businesses keep their doors open.
The week kicks off on May 2 with Small Business Week Bingo and the Small Business Week Challenge. The first encourages residents to support various local businesses by filling out a bingo card with different objectives. Each space offers an idea for people to support a business based on type or location. Completing each line on the card gains the person an entry for a gift basket filled with goods and gift cards from Stockton merchants.
The Small Business Week Challenge targets businesses by encouraging them to promote themselves and the entire event by sharing content on their social channels and making sure they use the #StocktonSmallBusinessWeek hashtag. One of the participating businesses will be drawn to win a free marketing video created by the talented Visit Stockton production staff.
The week continues with more than 19 events aimed at both consumers and owners. There are education webinars put on by industry experts that will help businesses navigate the new reality and find new opportunities to generate sales. Consumer-facing events like pop up shops, farmers' markets and a job fair will help connect residents with opportunities from shopping to employment.
