Delicious sliders and wings!!! I asked for sweet potato fries, and despite they didn't have them on the menu, they made them anyways as they're testing to see if customers want them. Yes please! They were delicious as well!
Very bay area skate shop feel. Love the look. Was very impressed with the food. Loaded smash fries, burger and wings! Need more bernie sauce! Good stuff. Deep fried oreos with a small dipping cup of vanilla ice cream was off the hook!

TL;DR don’t second guess a visit if you want a really great burger and crispy fries! Long version: I need to start by saying that I rarely eat burgers out anymore because I make really really good smash burgers at home. I’ve been wanting to give local restaurants that do smash burgers a try and Midnight at Burnie’s was my first restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. I ordered the standard smash burger with the double patty (anyone that truly knows smash burgers know this is the typical gold standard and shouldn’t need modifications - not that you can’t, but always a good starting place). I made it a combo to try the fries and added extra sauce to have with the fries. The burger comes with cheese, pickles, and onions (grilled, not quite Oklahoma smash style, but not raw). Fries are crinkle cut (which typically are not my go-to choice). The meat was well-seasoned with decent Maillard (caramelized crust) - nothing crazy like some places do, but enough that it adds flavor without drying out the meat. Everything on the burger came together well and nothing over powered on the burger (I’d be interested in trying some of their other burgers next time). The fries were crispy and also well-seasoned. Some of the fries that were longer were thicker and more potatoey than I’d have preferred, but most of the fries were smaller and thinner which were perfect. The extra sauce was the least impressive part of the meal. It wasn’t bad, just not as flavorful as I would prefer. Could use a little more acid - it’s a basic thousand island (perhaps add some pickle juice or thinly chopped pickles or thinly chopped caramelized onions or both). All in all, this is nit-picking, the food was really good and I’ll absolutely be returning and recommending to others. My only real complaint was that it took a pretty long time for the food to come out. It took just over 20 minutes and there were only 8 other people in the restaurant at 6:15 on a Wednesday night. For those complaining about the price: this is not a chain fast food restaurant (even those places are getting more expensive). You need to change your mindset to this being a local restaurant. If you go to any restaurant that isn’t fast food, you wouldn’t expect to get a full meal for one person for less than $15 (I paid $16.49 subtotal for the double smash burger w/ fries combo - plus tax and tip). This is quality ingredient and a small business. If you can’t afford going to a normal restaurant, save your money by learning to make smash burgers at home.
The service was good. The person who helped me was very kind. I didn't eat there. I showed up at 1:30 a.m.. they didn't say anything about them closing soon. It seems to be a very popular place to eat. I ordered the Philly cheese and the double smashburger and tots and fries. The order was cooked fresh so everything was hot and ready to eat. So yummy!
