My wife and I stopped in for dinner and I cannot express how great the service and food was. We chose the kbbq for dinner. Adam was our server and he was fantastic. Everything we ordered from the Korean short ribs to bbq chicken was on POINT! The pot stickers were perfectly cooked. I didn’t even have to ask for the sesame oil and salt because everything we needed was already laid out on the table. If you’re local to Stockton or just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop in. You absolutely, positively and unequivocally will not be disappointed!
The last time my husband we were here, we were taken aback by their automatic gratuity that was added to our bill. Our server there had barely served us 3 times and neglected our empty water cups and side dishes. We decided not to return even after being long time lovers of this establishment. Fast forward, after being disappointed in the quality of the newly opened restaurant Yogi, my husband we decided to visit Seoul Soondubu again. This time, we were met with amazing service and kindness from all staff and both the owners. We took our 5 month old son with us and all the staff made sure to make their way to say hello. 3 staff managed the tables but even then, they all took their turn in checking in and making sure our needs were met. The selection of food and appetizers (the spicy tofu soup and takoyaki being my favorites) are delicious as always. My husband we left 110% satisfied and both agreed we would happily pay the more expensive price here for quality food and service than at Yogi Kbbq. We agreed that although we have always had a great experience here in the years that we’ve visited, our one bad experience was probably due to a new staff who I didn’t see there this time.
Came in here with my family and had a great time. We had the bbq and the meat was really good and high quality!
It's been a bit since we were last here. We had for appetizers the Seafood Korean Pancake and the Pot Stickers. Excellent. We both had the Seafood Tofu Soup on this cold, rainy and windy day. My wife's was not spicy but added her own tolerance level of heat. Mine was Medium spicy but I also added some heat to it. Very good as always. On the negative there was the an automatic 18% tip added. We always tip well but I don't l like being forced to. Maybe it was posted somewhere but I wasn't really looking for it. The second was that there was no progressive clearing of empty dishes which left the table cluttered. Other than that service was okay.
This place was surprisingly good. I would say similar quality to the L.A. version of Bud Namu rated by Buzzfeed as good foods and fall in the medium price. This place in Stockton was comparable in quality. My family of four cost us 97.00 for lunch all u can eat for an 1.5 hr. limit. After an hour, we could do no more with our bellies maxed out. Service was thoughtful and attentive. Good service overall. Tip... Try not to sit in the middle of the grill, it gets very warm from the grill, not to mention the hot splashes from the grilling. I would recommend it if your around in the area. We actually drove from Modesto to try it. We just like to try foodies all over where our tummies take us As always, happy hunting.
Great spot and super friendly staff. Stopped on our way back from skiing and really enjoyed our meal. Adam was our waiter and he was terrific. Definitely go here if you are in the area.
Went here because of the high review scores but was left slightly disappointed. It's *fine*, but that's it. The menu is limited considering the cost (nearly $40/head as of February 2024), missing many of the items I'd expect to see at a KBBQ - the full menu is more like what I'd see at a lunch menu elsewhere in the Bay area. Still, the staff were pleasant and the food decent.
18% automatic gratuity charge regardless of kbbq or just regular dining. Didn’t enjoy that but atleast they told us up front. Slow service: we didn’t get our waters until after our food was served The food itself was good. We all got hot stone bibimbap
I wanted to come see what the trend was all about with this location…. so you KNOW i made the 30 minute drive in traffic from Tracy to try some AYCE Korean BBQ — in the middle of all this bustle! We were greeted by the family who ran the business some time after 6:00pm. It wasn’t too busy, so it was actually quite welcoming. He gave us the option to do regular Korean dining, or do the all-you-can-eat style. We opted for the all-you-can-eat, so we had to wait a teeny bit… but the wait wasn’t much of a wait to be quite fair. We were escorted to our tables, where they gave us the first few options to choose from… this is where the experience begins. Food: 5/5 They actually had quite a selection of meats and kitchen items! I love how they had English and Korean on their menu together… it made it feel like home. What stood out to me was the fact that the side dishes were already prepared for us and ready for us to dig in while we were waiting for our dishes to be served. I loved how you had the option to order three meats, alongside three kitchen items. Though not pictured, the portions of the meat weren’t actually a lot — they were enough to fill up our palate for each round they asked us for. The japchae and steamed eggs were probably by far the ones that really hit the spot, in terms of kitchen items. Meat wise, I’d recommend the pork jowl if you really want that CRISPINESS and bulgogi for that flavorful yet juicy tender texture of meat. 🥩 Service: 3/5 Okay, here’s what I didn’t like about the restaurant… so sit tight for this one. I had to dock two stars due to the following reasons: (1) We were rushed through the whole process. Though welcoming, the owner was quite dismissive — which it really lacked unprofessionalism. We were also told that we only had 90 minutes once we were sat… and they put immense pressure on the waitress who ONLY had been on the job for two days to take our order…. like GURL, give her a break first, she’s doing her best! (2) The prices were outrageous… almost $39 a person was enough to break my bank. On top of that, an 18% automatic gratuity was added on that…. I know that it’s easier on the people serving us since they should get more money, but seriously…. I almost ended up paying $98 out the door. No tip cuz y’all already did, smh 😒 Atmosphere: 4/5 I really liked how big the table was honestly — like it was enough to serve at least 6 people. It was only me and my partner, though, so that was a different kind of sight. I had to take a star off for the people that came in — it made it just feel like other groups of people are staring you down very occasionally. I’d come back again — their food is quite good. Just be prepared for the upcosts tsk tsk 🥱
The food is always on point! They care about serving quality food. I love tofu, their tofu soup is delicious, they have different versions, portions are very good, service is genuine. I work out of the area, but, come straight to Seoul Soondubu - Korean BBQ, on my Friday. Then again before I go back to work. I look forward to eating with them every weekend!
