“Queer Voices” Art Exhibition at LH Horton Jr Gallery
This event has already taken place, but here is the past event information
The LH Horton Jr Gallery at San Joaquin Delta College is proud to present “Queer Voices”, an art exhibition featuring works of art reflecting LGBTQ+ culture.
October 11 – November 2, 2019
The Queer Voices Exhibition is curated by Kirstyn Russell – Professor of Photography and LGBTQ+ Pride Club advisor for San Joaquin Delta College, and Jan Marlese, Horton Art Gallery Director. The exhibition explores LGBTQ+ culture, history, and social constructs to bring greater awareness and understanding of LGBTQ+ culture and expressions of gender identity. Selected artworks have a wide range of content – socially, politically and culturally in representation and perspective – to create an active dialogue to the intersectionality of LGBTQ+ identities. Presenting high quality works of art in a variety of mediums was also key to the selection process. Included are works of ceramic and quilted sculpture, paintings, digital photo-graphy, printmaking, graphic arts, comic art, and video animation. Exhibiting artists are professionals artists primarily from the Bay Area, with one artist, Celine M. Pham, from Stockton and a Delta College student.
