This event has passed but is here for informational purposes.
This class is a relief printmaking workshop where participants will be able to design, carve, and press several prints. (For safety purposes I will introduce an alternate technique to carving, so that young children can safely participate; the embossing method).
The purpose of this workshop is to use the principles and elements of design to spark curiosity and to enhance the appreciation of the fine arts. This will be achieved by allowing participants to choose either an element or principle of design as their main focus. Visuals and guidance will be provided, so that participants will understand how to create a print that exhibits their desired choice.
Art-making in itself is a strong agent of community. In an art studio environment, barriers break down and participants quickly make connections due to working side-by-side, having the opportunity to provide guidance and praise, and an awareness of other perspectives reflected through shared artwork.
This workshop is funded in part by the Stockton Arts Commission
