Situated in Downtown Stockton, the Mexican Heritage Center and Gallery welcomes residents and visitors to experience the diversity of Mexican culture. Art, dance, and music combine to honor the traditions held dear by our friends and neighbors to the south and their descendants living here in California.
For over 70 years, Stockton Civic Theatre (SCT) has wowed audiences with high-quality live performances. With 8 shows each year, and each running multiple weekends, there is plenty of opportunity to catch some of the Central Valley’s best talent on stage. Check out the youth summer productions too, and see the next generation of Broadway stars right here in Stockton.
The Stockton Chorale has been an integral part of the Central Valley’s musical life for over sixty years. The chorale offers four exhilarating choral music concerts at Central United Methodist Church, and perform a wide range of music from a classical mass to American folk music, as well premiere a brand new piece.
After a $2.5 million renovation, the Haggin Museum’s fine art galleries are a must-see and remains a hidden gem that deserves the spotlight! This fine art and local history museum holds world-renowned paintings and also hosts a fantastic array of traveling exhibitions. Special events and free admission days are also available.
Special Note: The Haggin Museum will be holding their upcoming exhibit—Elliot Erwitt Dog Dogs—from November 3, 2022 thru January 15, 2023. The Haggin briefly details the exhibit as "approximately 50 photographs [that] leaves little question about Erwitt’s love of man’s best friend." Visit the museum during this time to experience Erwitt's immense love for man's best friend through his amazing photographic works.
Featuring an eclectic mix of amateur, professional, and semi-professional artist works, the Goodwin Gallery is the perfect stop for art lovers. Each month an artist is featured and given a reception to expose their work to the community. Art is available for sale so visitors can walk away with a piece of Stockton to enjoy for years to come.
For over 90 years, the Bob Hope Theatre has brought entertainment into the lives of Stocktonians and visitors alike. From nationally recognized musical acts to local showcases, this ornate gem is truly a must-visit when looking to experience the arts in Stockton. And when we say gem, we mean it - the theatre is listed on the National Register of Historical Places, featuring a marble mosaic floor that encompasses a 1,200 square foot space in the center of the lobby. Located at San Joaquin Delta College, the LH Horton Jr Gallery promotes quality and culturally diversified artwork in support of their student's education and the community at large. This beautiful space located on the ground floor of the Shima Center offers excellent exhibition opportunities to artists, arts educators, guest curators, and more. You can also check out annual exhibitions in the Spring semester ands many more special events.
