There's enough to see and do in downtown Stockton to fill a night out every day for months. The best part is the food, with dozens of restaurants offering fare from around the world.
Choice abounds when it comes to restaurant offerings in Downtown Stockton. Think of a type of cuisine, and there's a good chance you'll find something to help that hankering. We've gathered a small sampling of the options available on your next visit downtown.
Note: As of 11-16-20 San Joaquin County has bee assigned to the "Purple" tier for COVID restrictions. Restaurants can only operate outdoor seating or via takeout. Pease check with local businesses before visiting for any alternate hours and other changes.
Just to keep things fresh, we're kicking this list off with a restaurant that opened just this past November. El Xavi's is the latest addition to the Downtown Stockton community. It's not easy opening a dining business in any economy, especially the current situation. So if you'd like to see a new business succeed, head on over there for some authentic Mexican flavors. Choose from an array of tacos, burritos, tortas and more with asada, pastor, chorizo or pollo. Bonus tip: If you're out with the family and have that one child who will only ever eat hamburgers, they've got you covered there as well.
Blazin Cajun is another relative newcomer to downtown, recently celebrating their first anniversary. In that time they've racked up quite the local following with their authentic Louisiana flavors. Fans rave about their fresh shrimp. In fact, it's the go-to place for seafood for locals and people who live within driving distance when they need a fix. You can dine for less here with your Stockton Savings Pass.

While Nashville is known for country music, after eating at Nash + Tender you'll think that city should be known for chicken instead. Fortunately Stockton benefits from the import, as their southern-inspired down home menu offers various takes on chicken that are all amazing. They also offer a handy spice guide so people know what they're getting into. There are six levels, ranging from "country" which has no spice, all the way to "Stupid Hot" which is offered in-restaurant only after the guest signs a waiver. We all have that one friend who claims they can eat anything spicy, this could be a fun way to see if they're all talk or not.

Got a sweet tooth? Satisfy that craving at D'Lilah's Cakery. While known for her selection of various, amazing cupcake flavors, be sure to try the other treats like her brownies and peach cobbler too. Then there is her own unique creation, the cake jars. Various cake types layered with your choice of fruits, frostings, and sauces. Quite possibly the best thing to happen to jars since the creation of preserves.

If you've never tried the wonder that is lumpia, then you need to get to Papa Urb's Grill immediately. They are the Filipino analog to Chinese egg rolls and is quite simply, amazing. Better yet is Papa Urb's take on this traditional dish. The restaurant is also loved for the pork belly sandwich and sisig fries. Enjoy a meal there and you'll be forgiven for thinking you've been magically teleported to the Philippines.
