The workers are very helpful and nice, and I see them working with everyone, Regardless of who they are.
Cesar Chavez Central Library is a two story building with classic mid century modern architecture. It is well staffed with friendly knowledgeable employees and Librarian's. A good selection of DVD's are available for checkout, there's aisles and aisles of favourite book's magazine's etc. Computers are free to use and search directories are easy to locate and there is a separate children's library adjacent to the main library, entrances to both are located one flight of steps below street level, there is a wide safe wheel accessible ramp from street level down to the entrance to the building Recently Cesar Chavez Central Library was gifted with over 700 brand new Chromebooks and tablets which were distributed to patrons who were fortunate to respond to the free give away. Parking is easily found and there's a Starbucks right across the street, also Stockton's beautiful old City Hall is one half block away. The library also has free available Income Tax forms and booklets on the second floor. An elevator is always ready to be accessed for going upstairs and returning to the main floor. The library is nice and bright and very organized l. It's a pretty straight forward experience.
I have been bringing my daughter here for 9 years. The staff is wonderful, library is clean and well stocked, and they always have so many great events for the kids. We are very grateful for Chavez library and everyone who works there!
I would be Lost without the library!! I'm an advid reader so this is the place. It is quiet super clean and Love the people behind the desk. Friendly Helpful... Love the Cesar Chavez Library. ❤😊
i love going here to find me a place to relax & charge up my phone while i wait i like to find good magazines to read and books as well love the staff they got all the answers i need..
Good library for the most part. Lots of books. Lots of computers. Summer meal programs for children in need and even a seed exchange to encourage gardening. Staff is very helpful. The only problems I've seen are just a result of lack of funding. Some of the books are rather old and could use replacing. Occasionally I come across a series with one or two books missing. All in all, For downtown Stockton they're doing pretty good.
I love this library. The staff is always helpful, and the security guards work hard on keeping the place safe. All employees are very friendly. My favorite thing about this library is the kids section! They have their own bathrooms in the kids area so children don’t have to leave the area to use the restroom. They have plenty of books and toys for the kids. And a lot of computers for the kids to use, and when there aren’t a lot of children staff will allow parents to use the kid computers to print and get some work done while the kids play. This was my favorite library when I was a child, and now it’s a favorite place for my kids too.
Lalalove the library. Come check out the activities calendar. Lots of resources too.
No matter my interest of the day or week I can find information to satisfy my curiosity in great detail at this library. Yes I have the internet and a fast connection at home too but the library allows me to check out books and videos to review at my leisure. I can study diagrams in books without having to use my printer and consume ink and paper. Checking out videos is simple and easy. Often I can get a video at the library before it is available for free on the internet and videos at the library are always commercial free. Yes I love this library.

Even though I paid 38$ for a Dean Koontz book that I didn't damage.someone before me, had little scapes of paper all through the book which leads me to believe it wasn't checked before being returned to the shelf, both desk clerks were very nice, fast and efiecient.
Cesar Chavez library! The staff was very helpful in directing me! Thanks for the help.
Nice place to take the children. It's cool and so many books from which to choose, different subjects, different levels and beautifully decorated area. AND IT'S FREE!!! We had a great time.... 👍😉
This is an excellent library in the perfect location! Always have a huge selection of books for the family and very friendly customer service! Being open on Saturdays now is a huge plus! Great way to spend a couple of hours with some great books! Definitely recommend a visit to this main branch downtown here in Stockton!
Love, love, love if you need to apply for work are simply need a mainframe computer. Than there is no excuse locally. Sidehustling, Affiliate marketing, and any other tools. CESAR CHAVEZ LIBRARY has you.
Very clean, always polite staff and an easy system of checkouts! Will go back every time. Some new art and culture would be nice.
This is an inviting reading space. It is clean and spacious inside and outside. Between the building and the street on the Oak, El Dorado, and Park street sides are recessed courtyards with interesting and attractive landscape plants of many varieties. On a spring or fall day, sitting on a bench contemplating the peaceful scene is almost as wonderful as reading here. For reading, this place has a vast collection. Whatever your reading interests, you will probably find something here. If you have a specific item in mind and you don't find it, ask for assistance. There are books available from beyond this library's collection, whether you want a physical book (or book on CD) or you need e-content (ebook or downloadable audiobook). Programs for learning or enjoyment are also offered. During the recent, on-going pandemic programs in indoor meeting room spaces were put on hold, but through the website and the library's Facebook presence, programming continues. Not for my family, but out of curiosity, I watched a librarian host a program targeted to help moms engage their babies (yes, babies!) in learning play. It looked perfect for that age. People come to use Wi-Fi or computers available. Others look up old newspaper articles on reels of microfilm. It is satisfying have these options. Whether retrieving information on microfilm or computers, there are ways to print or send the information by email (or fax) or just save to a flash drive. (Very useful.) I have seen lots of changes here during the decades I have been visiting this place. Shifts to the layout inside the building have been made to meet community needs, all with engagement of readers with texts and other ways to learn or capture the imagination of young and old.
