The Black Box Theater is hilarious! I highly recommend it to anyone who likes interactive programs. I have not laughed this hard in a very long time. Celebrate life, sing, and enjoy!
Always puts on a great show. Just take a seat cushion because they are narrow.
The actors were very good in their roles and played the part well. The staff were helpful and assisted you in anyway they could. The only issue was parking. If you arrive late you had to park a few blocks away so my advise is to plan ahead. 2022: since writing the aforementioned short post, we have watched several plays over the years. The majority of them were funny and very well done and others......."not so much!" My hats off to the men and women who have dedicated their lives to enrich ours! Overall our visit here was entertaining.
Very nice regional theater. Parking is easy and seat are very comfortable. I came here to see Gypsy which was a great production.
Saw Matilda - have seen other shows in the past as well. Great atmosphere from the staff to the volunteers to the performers. Top to bottom one of the best all around community organizations one can encounter. Absolutely loved the show and I'm looking forward to the next one!
A very nice professional theater in north Stockton. The house is 290, the season lineups are always top flight. The sound and lighting is outstanding too!
The best performances I have seen on a small stage. Not a bad seat in the house!

Great place, so many spots for artistic pictures, the venue looks very pretty 🤘
Watched a performance of Matilda the musical here having previously seen the Royal Shakespeare Company production in NYC twice. The Stockton production had performances equally as impressive - great characterisation, singing and choreography. Costumes and tech also flawless. Nearby parking was easy and Mongolian BBQ nearby a perfect pre-performance dinner!
Saw "Nice Work If You Can Get It" last night. It was an excellent production of a lively musical. I would have given a 5, except at intermission the food line had one person serving and the lady's room had a waiting line that made me decide not to go. Still an excellent venue!
Didn't know if I would like it. But it's actually a really good time. Great actors! And whoever does the stage builds is pretty impressive for Stockton. A lot of elderly people here, but don't let that effect your decision to come. Your phone HAS to be off or on silent. And unless it's an emergency you DO NOT leave your seat till intermission. So if you're addicted to your phone you probably won't have the best time. I really find it a fun time! I come with my Mom, sister and her daughter, my 93 year old grandma(still drives and is sharp as a tack!), and her friends. Some shows are better than others, but you can really tell they put it all out there every time! Definitely try out! And then you can get season tickets with assigned seats if you want a good night out often!
All the shows are great! There are a lot of seats, too! They also have a summer program for 8-17 year old people to participate in a jr show! I was in it and was awesome!
I've attended three productions at SCT and purchased tickets for gifts. It's time to yelp out 10 stars for stellar productions in an intimate theater. The cast always comes out for meet and greet for finale---how fun! Go join an adult audience for Rock of Ages: it rocks!!!
Quaint local theatre with charming production, a commitment to the arts, and most importantly: reasonably priced concessions.
Saw a fun musical tonight... Something Rotten...just hilarious! So nice to be attending live theater again 👍
Very much enjoyed seeing "Something Rotten"! Theater is small and we'll maintained. Not sure there is a bad seat in the house....unless it's intermission and you are a woman trying to use the restroom! Definitely need some added facilities. They did eventually allow women into the men's room and had an employee monitoring that.🙂
I went to see Something Rotten last night. It was my first time at the Stockton Civic Theater and I was very impressed! The Theater was lovely and very comfortable. The staff was welcoming from the box office to the doorman to the ushers! The show was performed so professionally that I felt that I was back in New York. If there were any flaws with the sound, lights, or backstage activities, they were not perceptible. The cast and stage crew were outstanding! This production was several notches above any community theater I had ever seen before. The singing and dancing was outstanding. Comedy is not easy to perform, but the cast handled it beautifully. If anyone is thinking of getting a ticket, I would highly recommend this show for adults. Due to some adult content I would not recommend this show for young children.
A Christmas Story was quite fun as was their first offering, Something Rotten. Looking forward 3the rest of the season.
We love the musical performances at Stockton Civic Theater. The Christmas Story was well done and lots of fun!🎄
