Overview
Twisted Barrel Winery offers a new take on an old art. As one of Lodi’s boutique-style wineries, the family business is creating small lot, quality wines that specialize in Italian, Spanish and Portuguese varietals.
The winery combines family, friendship and an open door policy to raise the bar and create an all inclusive tasting experience for all to enjoy. Extra touches come into play in the tasting room – tasty tidbits, music and no-pressure-vibe.

Denise and her husband Marc really have a great place in Lodi. I joined their wine club without hesitation, given the quality of wine, service, and the family atmosphere of their tatsing room. Despite living in Arizona, I will definitely be scheduling some more regular trips to Sacramento/Lodi to pick up my bundles of happiness from time to time. I really felt welcomed in their tasting room, which is one of the most unique I have seen among hundreds of others. It feels so much like a comfortable gathering place than a wine tasting room. That, in itself, is hard to describe, and it is why it is incumbent upon you to give them a visit. Bottles are priced incredibly well, given that their son, Brock, has done such an amazing job with crafting these wines to perfection. These are mid-$25 wines in price that drink with a $60 taste! Be sure to check out their Italian less-common varietals, as they surely will not disappoint. I tasted the 100% 2024 Petit Verdot (my personal favorite varietal that rarely gets bottled by itself), and I was impressed. I am going to cellar that for a few more years (2029), however, so those fruit-forward notes will become a little less prominent to let that smooth and refined texture develop. That is going to be an awesome bottle in a few years! On the other hand, there is that immediate drinkability in the others I tried. The teroldego, primativo, and nero d'avola are also 2024 bottlings that were fantastic right away. I am going to do a longer decant on those when I get them home, but even in the tasting room, they were really good. So give these folks a try, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
