Historic Launch of Stephens Yacht

This month/April 63 years ago Amelia Marie now Joie de Vivre was launched at Stephens Brothers Shipyard. Dick Stephens once described her owner, Ted Brix as “a dilettante with great taste and a wallet to match.” It was Dick’s way of saying that Brix spared no expense in building one of the great Stephens Yachts to ever come out of the Stephens yard in Stockton. Amelia Marie was Brix”s 4th, largest and last Stephens. Ted Brix was probably best known for having a pipe organ installed at the helm of his 3rd Stephens, pictured below.

Ted Harris and I along with our families are happy and proud to say that after 26 months and at considerable cost the restoration is nearly complete. To celebrate we are planning a re-launch 63 years to the month to be held April 23, 2023, 1 pm at Five Star Marina/The old Stephens Shipyard, going out on the same “way’s” when she first tasted the waters of the Stockton Channel. Members of the Stephens and Brix family's have been invited and are expected to attend. We plan to celebrate with champagne and refreshments. Yachting attire is suggested.
