Everything you need to know before attending the Stockton Lantern Festival at Stockton Ballpark!
This once in a lifetime event is like nothing you've ever seen before—and it's right here in Stockton! A tale told to you through performance and an overwhelming abundance of lights. An extraordinary Chinese art form that has existed for over 2,000 years, this year's Stockton Lantern Festival will tell the tale of Koda's Journey to the Magic Forest, where we follow the adventure of an 8 year-old Koda as he plunges himself into a mystic forest in Caballococha, Peru.
Featuring 65,000 feet worth of lights, 82,000 feet of fabric, and over 100 tons of metal, the field is covered with gigantic trees, wild vegetation, a bamboo forest, mist forest, and numerous mystical creatures for you to witness. Everything from the Red Deer, dragons, a giant gorilla & frog, and a beautiful peacock are on display. There's also interactive lanterns that include swings, a stationary bike-powered light, step switches that light lanterns and change their color, a xylophone, teeter totters, a color changing sequin wall, and more. MORE THAN LANTERNS
Along with the illuminated adventure itself is a plethora of other features at the Stockton Ballpark during this event. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, with a menu that includes flavorful Peruvian inspired dishes. Adults can indulge in libations like Baileys & Coffee or Jameson & Hot Chocolate/Coffee, while the kids can enjoy warm non-alcoholic treats to sip as you stroll.
Experience the thrill of Chinese culture nightly at the festival with our spectacular acrobatic shows. These 30-minute performances are a must-see! Witness the breathtaking, seemingly perilous acrobatic feats that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Our skilled acrobats perform death-defying stunts with precision and flair. Don't miss out on this mesmerizing blend of danger and beauty – a true highlight of the festival! You'll find this captivating display on the concourse level, near the club area and close to the batting cages. Show times are Monday to Thursday: 5:30p, 7p and 8:30p; and Friday to Sunday 5:30p, 6:30p, 7:30p and 8:30p.
Take home a souvenir! Our lantern festivals and light shows feature a selection of traditional Chinese handicrafts, each piece a reflection of China's rich cultural heritage and historical tapestry. Among these are the exquisite art of inner bottle painting and elaborate wire art sculptures in the forms of dragons, wands, and even cars! Many of these displays are exclusive to our lantern festival, offering a unique glimpse into the artistic traditions of China that you won't find anywhere else. Also, special Stockton Lantern Festival souvenirs will be available!
Whether its with your family or your crew of friends, you will enjoy every second of this stellar festival. So, check your calendar, pick a day (or three), and plan out your experience!
