Originally devoted to vegetables, the Phillips’ farms evolved to include many different fruits, including fifteen different wine varietals that were shipped throughout the country during Prohibition with instructions on “how not to have the grapes turn into wine”.
Whether you’re coming by for a quick stop or you’d like to make a day of it with some friends and a rousing game or three of bocce ball, we’d love to see you! Grab some lunch at our cafe or order a wood-fired pizza and hang out next to the pond.
Note: all mermaid sightings must be reported immediately to our staff.
Tasting Fee: $10 for your pick of 5 flagship wines, includes a keepsake Michael David logo wine glass.
$15 for 4 reserve wines, pending availability. Includes a keepsake Michael David logo wine glass.
Tasting fees are non refundable, and are not applied toward the purchase of any bottles.
Not to say we are wine snobs but .. Good wine, price point is perfect. Grounds are the type set for a wedding. Staff knowledgeable and pleasant. No hard sell. We joined 2 levels of wine club.
Excellent breakfast at this winery just past Flag City on the way to Lodi. Service was quick and friendly. Home made pies at $20 looked delicious! Gift shop and different labels on their wines were funny. Bathrooms were clean and included gender neutral option. Would definitely visit again.
Beautiful winery with knowledgeable staff, but tasting pours were skimpy and no outside food is allowed. They also don't waive the tasting fee with the purchase of a bottle. Some of the wine was good, others were just okay. I will probably not be back.
Beautiful place. Good tasting but limited selections. Only two whites to sample. They have another one at least. Nice garden to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine.
We had perfect weather to sit outside for some wine and salad. Very beautifully landscaped with lots of nice outdoor furniture to sit and chill. Not sure how comfortable it will be when the temperatures hit 100. They have a lot of umbrellas to keep the sun off of you.
California has many wineries. Most people pick one or several, and that's fine. Others continuously search out wine makers and sample their wares. This winery has a wide appeal, as the full parking lot attested as my buddy & I picked up a sampling case on a Sunday mid-afternoon. The tasting room, small restaurant, and their store were all bustling. Freshly baked pies, all sorts of delicatessen items and of course wines and related decor and artsy items are available for your enjoyment. A few framed displays of the wide world of corkscrews, antique to art deco even, are prominent in the store area. I can't wait to sample their wines.
I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this experience was. My daughter is a wine club member and she scheduled a wine tasting and table outside for lunch. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, delicious lunch and of course the wines are spectacular! I can't wait to go again!
The vineyard looks more like a restaurant. I did stop and grab breakfast and it was pretty good. The price was not to bad either. I did not do any tastings as it did not seem as inviting to me.
Service was poor, hot food was brought out cold. We are from VA and this was our first visit, we set at the table for about 20 min before our waitress took an order. We ordered drinks and a wood fired pizza, the pizza came out cold and didn’t have what we ordered on it. I later ordered a second drink, 30 mins late as we were now ready to leave she showed up with the drink like nothing was wrong, no apology at all even after I declined the drink and asked for the check. All the mistakes were waitress relayed, the place has a very nice relaxing atmosphere.
Good food & good service. Got right in today for lunch. Got one of the special.... Cilantro Pesto Chicken Sandwich with fruit & potato salad. The Feta on the sandwich and spinach topped it off. So delicious.
We had breakfast here this morning and I thought this place was just ok... I had the bri and bacon omelet and my wife had the same thing. The winery was jumping and the grounds beautiful.
We had a great time doing live music for their audience we( California Creedence) knocked it out of the park!! All there guests enjoyed us. Great place to Play!! And one of the nicest winery's around!!
Visiting From Florida. Best Hamburger I have EVER had in my life. Everything was excellent. Food, Service, and Everyone was NICE.
This is a great place to come for wine tasting as well as getting some good grub. The restaurant is solid - good farm to fork fresh food. The winery is super cool with two separate tasting rooms and a huge outdoor are with seating. Very kid friendly - drink wine and let the little ones run around outside. Cool art and great wine!
Best wine experiance. Jesse our host was the best. The grounds are beautiful. Every wine we tasted was superb. I would highly recommend visiting. We also had lunch from the deli and ate outside by the waterfall Make sure you join the wine club for better pricing and free tastings. Cheers.
This is a really nice little winery to stop in and check out. They offer wine tasting and a nice little store. The cafe was not open when we stopped in.
I went to breakfast with my husband and cousin and we had a great time. The service was good and friendly. I had the ricotta pancakes with blueberries and a light dusting of powdered sugar. They were wonderful!
Love this place! Where do I begin. The atmosphere from the inside out is lovely. I live that this location is perfect for a business meeting, or a mommy's day out. The fact that I can bring my children with me when I go and their in a safe environment is a breath of fresh air. The play area for the kids is just darling. Every time I've brought my children they've had a great time. They leave exhausted. I love the touches of water at the location, and the variation of areas available to explore. The restaurant portion is small, so you might have to wait depending on the day and time you decide to go. Service for me hasn't been that fast in the past- but taking into consideration the busyness is a must. The food has been good. I've only tried a couple things from the menu. The wine is delicious. My favorite is their Chardonnay. They do not waive tasting fees even if you purchase wine, so take that into account. But you do get a souvenir Michael David glass to take home. The staff is always friendly. You can purchase a bottle of wine and then take it out on the property and sit and sip with your friends. Overall, I would recommend this place to my family and friends. This location is definitely a gem to the Lodi wine tasting scene. The property is gorgeous, and is perfect for any event. You can tell a lot of love is put into this place. And did I mention it's really easy to find!? About 5 mins off of I-5, easily located right off the road. Cheers!
Michael David Winery is awesome. They reopened while still evoking social distancing rules, it was a wonderful experience, of course excellent wine and the food was excellent as well, I had the best cheese burger, the meat was cooked perfectly so juicy. I had an amazing time. Will definitely make a reservation to visit again real soon. Great Job!
Beautiful location - excellent wine and wood fire pizza. The facility and staff are doing a great job at maintaining appropriate social distancing as well. Felt very safe
I very much would like to join their wine club if they accept my application from Japan - During my days at CA I enjoyed their awesome wine a lot. Chardonnay goes well with white meats. Thanks fully COSTCO Japan sells limited selections of theirs.
We had a great afternoon even though it was 108'. They gave us plenty of water and the salads were perfect. Just ask for some cheese because there's no protein on the salad. It wasn't crowded and we had plenty of space. Reservations needed to secure a seat.
We had a delicious lunch and wine today! The grounds are beautiful! We were disappointed there is no wine tasting or wine by the glass right now due to COVID, but we still enjoyed our afternoon here.
A little disappointed since they don't really have wine tasting here. You have to buy entire bottles so if you're a small group, you can't really try mor than one wine. But beautiful grounds etc.
Amazing place. My girlfriend and I come out here as much as possible. The wine is amazing and the food is fantastic! Friendly staff.
Great winery. Great wine and friendly staff. A welcome relief from the high-end California wineries. When Corona is over we'll be back in the nice tasting room. Highly recommend the wine club - great service, prices, etc.
We had the best server Marisa do our wine tasting. I really enjoyed the beautiful scenery , The nice staff and the WINE!! We were socially distant and wearing face covering. I will be back!
We love the red wines here (mostly the freakshow). Also the clam pizza is a hidden gem. *Covid update: This place is super safe! They don't just do it for show, they keep 6 ft at all times, even when taking your order and passing by on the property. They are the safest place I've been during these times.
We had a delightful experience! Delicious lunch, scrumptious wine and impeccable service with Melissa!
Beautiful place, I loved the food from the Cafe, unfortunately because of covid I'll have to give it a year before I come back, but I can't wait.
I really enjoy being a member here. The wines are consistently enjoyable and reasonably priced, especially at the club price. The grounds are delightful to wander around. Food offerings could be a little better IMO. I like the pizza oven spot, but I would like some more small plate munchie type things for hanging out. I can't wait until trivia nights are a thing again!
The grounds are gorgeous! Ponds, waterfalls, flowers are inter mingled with living room style seating. Sit and taste their wine. Order freshly prepared food from a deli style menu. This winery is a real treat.
Very nice place. Had lunch at the Cafe. Very good. Relaxing and welcoming. Be aware though. The areas near the pond/fountain/fall is off limits. There are no signs indicating this. Those areas are reserved during certain hours. Management: Maybe put some signage up? It's difficult to be welcomed on one hand, then told, "you're not supposed to be here" on the other. I wasn't happy being scolded by staff. Yes, I believe I will go back. And, maybe check to see if places are clearly marked.
Best outdoor wine tasting in the region. Great food, great wine, great service and gorgeous grounds. Happy wine club member 🥰
This place was beautiful. Food and the wine were great! Service was slow. Each item comes in a togo box. We had to serve ourselves water and wine, pass out paper plates, cups, and plastic silverware. Some of my friends didn't want to pay the 18 percent gratuity, but its on the bill already when reserving for a 6 person table. Waitrist was friendly. I did have a good birthday celebration there. They did allow gifts inside, but no outside food (cake). They have no dessert. The playground was open to my surprise since the email said it was closed due to the pandemic. I definitely go back such a nice relaxing atmosphere.
One of my favorite wineries. It was one of the first vineyards that we ever to. When we visited the store several years ago they had some new types of wine that have become extremely popular. I was sad when I had to move out of the area because at that time I could not get the wine shipped to my state. Since then it is possible to get it. We belonged to their wine club and had wine shipped across the country so we could still have their awesome wine. We also stopped at the store dor lunch and picked up some produce. I loved getting pumpkins around Halloween. Go out of your way to stop in. We did a few vineyard tours in the area. We learned a ton about the wine and how it is made. It is surprising what it takes from start to finish to get the grapes in the bottles.
Had breakfast there, it was outstanding. Had eggs benedict with a side of well done bacon. Service was excellent, had to wait a bit to get in but it was worth every minute of it. Have been there before and had lunch with the exact same results.
Low key. If u like wine. Pretty relaxing seating area outside with bunch sade. Old fashioned country band. Outside Food truck cook burgers fries .cook chicken burgers with fries. Don't eat beef
Amazing spot. Great whites and zin. Wonderful outdoor location. Unpretentious. Probably the best bang for the buck for wine tasting and joys around it.
The Service was really good here. The quality of food is at a higher level then mist. From the coffee to the biscuits and gravy. My only problem with my experience was the two egg $14 omelette. The portion size for the omelette was very disappointing for the price
Thank you, Ashley for helping us with our tasting. Beautiful Winery with gorgeous flowers. Lunch was amazing!
Great tasting and enjoyable experience! This was by far the most affordable tasting we did on our trip and even included two wine glasses with the tasting. I would recommend going around lunch or dinner time to take advantage of the cafe. There are also beautiful grounds behind the tasting room but you’ll likely need a reservation to access them.
They allowed us to taste without an appointment as we were just passing through. We were allowed to bring our (well behaved) dog with us. The staff were polite and helpful and and their fruit stand had digs which I had been seeking for days!
My family are wine club members and love to stop by for lunch and an afternoon tasting at Michael David. The food is good, the wine is delicious, and the staff is so friendly and thoughtful! They also have an amazing outdoor space available in the summer months - highly recommend reserving lounge seating.
