This was our first experience dining at Mezzo and it was an amazing place. I would first like to say thank you to our server, Rasheeda! Not only did she have great energy and a welcoming spirit but she was very knowledgeable in the menu (and ingredients) it was one thing I noticed right away and was impressed by. She provided excellent recommendations and she was able to accommodate my dessert needs 🤭 (whip cream and biscotti on the chocolate gelato, must try!!). The entire vibe was relaxing and enjoyable not to mention — peaceful. My 6 year old loved her pasta and dessert which speaks volumes coming from a picky child! My husband loved the ribeye and I would definitely return for the lamb chops. We both loved the selection of vegetables that we accompanied in our meals and a special shout out to the chef who prepared our meals tonight; they were certainly crafted with love and passion for their work. Thank you to the entire Mezzo team including our busser who was very kind and accommodating as well as the gentleman who assisted Rasheeda in boxing our dessert and bringing our food to our table. Coming from a person with years of restaurant experience, I admired how this team worked together and cohesively. We will be back soon for a different dish to side to try and absolutely will be recommending to whoever we know! Molto bene, grazie!
Mezzo continues to prove why it’s one of the most refined dining experiences in Stockton. Tucked away in one of the city’s most beautiful neighborhoods, it has that “if you know, you know” feel — understated from the outside, exceptional once you walk in. On our most recent visit (my third), the restaurant was in the middle of preparing for a large catering event. Instead of feeling rushed or closed off, the team welcomed us warmly and even allowed us to step into the kitchen to see the operation in motion. Watching the staff plate dishes with precision and calm confidence spoke volumes about their professionalism and pride in their craft. Now, the food. The chicken sandwich is, in my opinion, the best in Stockton. Perfectly crisp chicken layered with garlic aioli, arugula, bacon, and cheddar on soft ciabatta — every element balanced, every bite intentional. The beef carpaccio was beautifully plated and incredibly clean in flavor. Thinly sliced beef topped with arugula, capers, shaved Reggiano, and quality olive oil — simple ingredients elevated through execution. The lobster gnocchi was unforgettable. Light, fluffy gnocchi paired with rich lobster and bold Mediterranean flavors — olives, olive oil, depth — with bread perfect for soaking up every last bit of sauce. Comforting yet sophisticated. The drink program is equally impressive. A thoughtfully curated wine list featuring strong representation from Lodi, Napa, and Sonoma shows their commitment to supporting California producers. The cocktails were balanced and crafted with care. What sets Mezzo apart is their commitment to seasonality. The menu evolves regularly because they source fresh ingredients from respected growers in the San Joaquin Valley. That dedication to local, high-quality produce translates directly to the plate. Service was polished without being pretentious. The atmosphere strikes a rare balance — upscale but welcoming, refined yet comfortable. You’ll notice regulars at the bar, especially toward closing — always a sign of a restaurant that has earned loyalty. Mezzo isn’t just a place to eat. It’s a place that reflects growth and elevation in Stockton’s culinary scene. Highly recommended.
Had a great experience at Mezzo! Despite it being a packed crowd on a Friday evening, our server, Hector, was attentive and fantastic. We started with the carpaccio for an appetizer, which was light and refreshing! I had the lasagna and my spouse had the frutti di mare, both no complaints. Finished off with dessert - the pistachio cannoli and an apple tart with gelato. Didn’t finish every course, but went home with delicious leftovers! Great spot for a quick drink if you’re thinking of skipping the meal too!
Great food and service. Our 2nd time here. Hector, was a attentive and a kind waiter. I will definitely request him next time I bring my family. Best carbonara here in the USA. The guanciale was perfectly toasted. The shallots were sweetly caramelized with white wine. Plus the kale was a nice addition. They gave me dessert for no charge. It was my birthday. The best restaurant in Stockton, CA for sure. We will be back. Don't have to go to North Beach un Sfo. For very gourmet Italian food! Thanks Mezzo! 😀
