Continuous Line Drawing

Workshop Description

Continuous line drawing, also known as contour drawing, is a great exercise to improve drawing skills and coordination. Continuous line is to draw with a pen or pencil in constant touch with the paper. This is a way to build confidence in your skills and develop better hand-eye coordination. Also, participants will focus more in capturing the subject than achieving a masterpiece. Therefore, it would create a practice to built skills and a way to deal with the frustrations like not having enough time to draw, lacking proportion and general drawing skills, etc.

Workshop Description
Participants will learn how to create a printing plate and do a short run of prints.
The objective of this workshop is to learn about black and white designs and create basic compositions with silhouette shapes.
Collagraphy is a really versatile printing process in which a textured plate is inked up and put through a press. Different textures hold varying amounts. of ink and print different tones. Anything with a low relief texture can be stuck down and used: wallpaper, leaves, fabrics, tapes and threads etc.

Workshop is age-appropriate for kids 7 and up but complex enough for adults to also participate and enjoy.

Workshop Description

Mandalas are more than a geometric design, it holds a great spiritual, symbolic and therapeutic meaning in Buddhist and Hindi cultures. Mandalas are instruments of meditation. In a sense, mandalas are a perfect way to illustrate the benefits of doing art and reconnect with your creativity and improve your concentration. The simple and organic lines push you to immerse yourself in your mind and in the present. Mandalas are a way to develop your ability to be mindful. Drawing them would not only make you feel content and satisfied with yourself but also it can help you to deal with loss, frustration, stress, anxiety and depression.

During this workshop people will learn how to meditate while drawing mandalas. This workshop will help participants to cope with strong emotions, trauma, and challenges. Participants will also feel more grounded and connected to themselves and their surroundings.

Lost Sock Memorial Day

Workshop Description
Imagine the heartache of losing your partner...your twin. Every year thousands of socks go missing in washers, dryers and otherwise, leaving their match behind in bewilderment and pain.

This day, Monday May 9, is National Lost Sock Memorial Day.

Bring one (or two) of your bereaved remaining socks and create a puppet in honor of the missing sock. We'll provide the decorations. You provide the love and labor.

And once you're done we'll take a photo and help you create and print a "MISSING SOCK" poster to take home or put up somewhere in Stockton. Never forget - remember the missing socks!

Plasma Cut Good Luck Charms

In this workshop, attendees will have the chance to use metalworking tools to make good luck charms. Plasma cutting is a process that uses electricity to cut through metal and it will be used to make a metal charm of your very own. Finish it up by turning your charm in a pendant or keychain to bring you good luck and cherish forever!
