1. Japanese Food Festival & Obon Odori

The Japanese Food Festival & Obon Odori at the Stockton Buddhist Temple is a popular event that is going virtual in 2021 in light of the continuing pandemic. Always held the first full weekend in August, it starts this year on the 7th with virtual entertainment and demonstrations streamed live on Youtube and Facebook.

2. Stockton Ports

The Stockton Ports are in the heart of their season in August, with 14 home games for you to choose from. Check out the calendar and find the date, and the fun promotion, that works best for you and enjoy a game at one of the most scenic ballparks around. They're taking on Modesto, Visalia, Inland Empire and Fresno, so there's plenty of action to take in.

3. Soul Food Festival

If you love good food then Weber Point is the place to be on Aug. 7 for the Soul Food Festival. The free event starts at 11 am and runs until 8 pm, giving you plenty of time to feed your body and spirit. In addition to amazing food there will also be live entertainment, retail vendors and local nonprofits. Bring your lawn chair and an appetite, it's going to be a great time!

4. Classic Car & Hot Rod Meet and Greet

The Waterloo Gun & Bocce Club is where it's at if you love checking out the sleek lines of a beautiful old car. If you happen to own one, then you're invited to bring it down so everyone else can admire your work. The Classic Car & Hot Rod Meet and Greet is set for Aug. 6 and car lovers and owners alike are invited to share in their love of a classic ride while also enjoying some good food.

5. Dwight Yoakam at the Bob Hope Theatre

Country legend Dwight Yoakam is making an appearance here in Stockton in the Bob Hope Theatre's first country music event since reopening after the pandemic. The multiple Grammy Award-winning performer has promised to put on a rocking show that will be sure to get the boots tappin'. Tickets start at just $38 for the performance, which is Aug. 12 at 8 pm.

6. Stockton Tequila Festival

This two-day event is guaranteed to be a blast, as the Stockton Tequila Festival is set for Aug. 14-15 at Weber Point Event Center. Sample all sorts of tequilas on their own or mixed into delicious margaritas at several margarita popup bars on location. Also enjoy live music from "War Tribute Band" and "The Jets" among others. Tickets cost $25 for general admission and $40 for VIP access.

7. The King Is Back

Head back to the Bob Hope Theatre on Aug. 14 for a fun evening of entertainment as Lloyd Aron Douglas becomes The King himself, Elvis Presley. Douglas is a deputy with the San Joaquin Sheriff's Department and also renowned for his Elvis tributes. Not only will he be entertaining a packed house, he's doing it for a good cause, as this is the first show in a series of benefit concerts with proceeds going to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

8. Stockton Cruise Night

Stockton Cruise Night is another fun event for car enthusiasts, as countless works of automotive art make their way to the Miracle Mile for a cruise up Pacific Ave. After the cruise, the cars park along the Miracle Mile so you can get a closer look. The cruises happen every third Thursday June through October, with August's meetup happening on the 19th. It's free to attend, leaving you plenty of money in your pocket for a meal at one of the delicious restaurants on the Miracle Mile, making for a fun night out on the town.
