The Japanese Food Festival & Obon Odori at the Stockton Buddhist Temple is held annually covering the first full weekend in August. This annual cultural bazaar features playful games for the kids, fun raffles prizes, intriguing taiko drumming, and of course, you cannot miss the traditional Japanese food such as udon, sushi, and teriyaki chicken. 2. StocktonCon

Viewed as the Central Valley’s largest annual pop culture convention, StocktonCon will be held August 3-4 at both the Stockton Arena and University Plaza Waterfront Hotel. This year’s convention guest list has an exciting mixture of talent such as Kurt Angle from WWE, Kermit the Frog’s puppeteer, Steve Whitmire, and Stockton's own, Nakia Burrise who played Tanya Sloan in Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers in 1995! 6. Stockton Beer Week

Stockton Beer Week is a week-long celebration of craft beer enthusiasts and newbies alike, which now occurs in August. The celebration runs throughout Stockton, California from August 9 through 18 at various restaurants, tap houses, and breweries. Launched in the spring of 2015, with a mission to support local artists and entrepreneurs, the Stockmarket held on August 17th is located in the Stockton Marina Pavilion next to the Historic Waterfront Warehouse. 9. Stockton Community Pow Wow

Held each Labor Day Weekend on the stunning University of the Pacific campus, the Stockton Labor Day Pow Wow meets at the Wendell Phillips Center in the grassy areas. From August 30 through September 1, this truly unique event immerses you into indigenous peoples of the West with traditional ground ceremonies, drum circles, handmade art, and of course, plenty of food that will have your mouth watering.
