Located in Stockton's Lincoln Center, Market Tavern is made up of 2 sides: a full-service restaurant/bar and food market. Market Tavern sprang from the single premise of offering the best prepared and fresh foods, locally sourced whenever possible. Market Tavern features farm-fresh ingredients across all menu items. The restaurant’s soft-lit interior, open-style kitchen and mirror-lined bar make for an ambiance that is both classic and cozy.
The food follows suit. Its wood-burning oven bakes up traditional style Neapolitan pizzas, while the wood-fueled grill and rotisserie cook a variety of organic and naturally raised meats. Starters, soups, salads, sides and sweets round out the menu, which also features signature cocktails, wine and beer.
The market offers shoppers fresh meats; an alphabet of fresh produce – ranging from artichokes to zucchini; and local cheeses, olives oils and wines. House-baked bread and cookies, restaurant-prepared entrees and ready-made sandwiches make it easy to put together a lunch on-the-go or a gourmet take-out dinner.

We've been a couple times in the last few months, both times the service was great and the food was delicious. Cocktails were also well made. Definitely pricey but worth it for a nice date. ** edit: 3rd time was not great...our server, Alexia, was terrible. Manager, if you're reading this, do not give this girl a 6 table section on a Friday!
We had a reservation for 5 adults 4 kids. The service was standard. The food for the adults was delicious and aesthetically beautiful. My niece ordered the cheeseburger and was surprised to see her patty was much smaller than the buns. It seems the buns for the adult meals were utilized. The chicken tenders were basic perfect for picky eaters. Overall, we all left satisfied.
I love their grilled cornbread. My favorite is beef stroganoff. The bar is great but I feel like the bartender is a little prejudice to other raise. She more friendly to the white my daughter in law is white. Me and my husband waited to be serve but then when my daughter in law sat with us bartender (she) was then welcoming to her and ask what she wanted to drink. So my daughter in law order our drinks. I wouldn't bring my friends that are not white to this bar. But when we got our table and was seated our waiters was great. I wish I remember her name she was great. The food was great. Bar on the other hand is a different story. She (bartender) i give her 3 star she wasn't welcoming to non white people.
Such an amazing place!! Food and service was perfect!!! The menu has great selection of drinks and appetizers. Wood fired pizza looked SO good. I had fish tacos and my husband had spicy chicken sandwich. We loved everything we ordered and for sure will be back!!!
Market Tavern never disappoints! I've never had to wait very long for a table and the food is always tasty and the experience is memorable. If you sit outside in the patio, the wait staff makes you very comfortable and they constantly check on you. There's one waitress (I can't remember her name) who is there during the week who is absolutely delightful! She never needs to use a pad to remember your order and she's very interactive and funny. She's also great with children. The atmosphere inside and outside is terrific. Don't forget to check out the market side of the restaurant and purchase some of their tasty meals to-go!
Ordered the pork chop, I highly recommend it. Thick, juicy, moist and seared with a crust. Served with sauteed vegetables and creamy, herbed mashed potatoes. The gal who waiting on us was personable, patient and attentive.
They got my martini right! And the food was good, too. Not a fancy place but, the waitress was accommodating... and both our dishes were excellent.
Delicious food and drinks. Got the prosciutto arugula pizza and it was amazing. Service was slow but they were busy. May need to increase staff. But I'm sure that's difficult currently. I'll definitely be back.
Every time the ribs are perfect. Nice environment and the service is also good. BUT IF YOU ORDER TAKE OUT THE ASIAN WOMAN IN CHARGE IS MENTALLY ILL.
Service was great. Ambience was great. Always a good atmosphere and good time at Market Tavern. It is a little pricy for what you get. But I guess you're paying a premium to be in Lincoln Center.
Stopped by, no reservations and were seated immediately. Natalie was our server and very attentive, checking on us regularly. Loved that the drinks menu had the little warming stating that the Cocktails aren't for the faint of heart! Food was great! Kids said dessert was great too. Will definitely recommend and will stop by if we are in the area again.
My friends booked the Saturday reservation at Market Tavern so I didn't tell them about my parents' experience at this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the food. There is plenty of comfortable seating in the waiting area and a large bar. The hostess wasn't on point -- she didn't seem to be present. We had reservations for outside and the hostess kept saying that to sit outside, we needed reservations. We reminded her that we did have reservations for outside. The funny thing is when we went outside, there were plenty of available tables as there was only one other party that was sitting outside. The cornbread was fresh, hot and delicious and butter was sweet. The portions were very small for the price. However, it was one of the best cornbread I ever tasted. The brunch items were ample-sized. I had the eggs Benedict which came with roasted potatoes and a side salad. The dish was marvelous. The temperature was in the 90s, but under the shade outside it felt like a cool 70°. The server was very nice and left an iced water carafe on the table. The restaurant has a takeout area where customers can get ready made enchiladas, pizzas, salads, drinks, and other entrées. I bought the beef enchiladas Rojas for $10 tax included. The enchiladas were excellent. The employee who checked me out at the takeout area was very helpful. The avocado salad was sizeable and my friend boxed up leftovers. In all of the salads were pea-sized tomatoes that were delicate and sweet. They looked like sweet pea currant tomatoes. Amazing taste and popping texture. I believe that this restaurant is in the old Carmen's restaurant location at Lincoln Center. Would recommend, especially for the weekend brunch. I told my parents to give this restaurant another chance. If I lived in the area, I could see myself stopping at this restaurant and picking up takeout containers for dinner.
Sat down to one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. Was warmly greeted in and to a dim lit very aesthetically pleasant sitting area and taken care of by the very nice and welcoming Heather G. She knew a lot about the specials and menus in general along with what to recommend. She did not let me down. The Rib-eye was the best Rib-eye I’ve ever had hands down and is true for any comparison to the surrounding restaurants, a true winner. It was in fact so good, as a person who posts a lot of reviews this Rib-eye was so savory it had to be eaten immediately thus, no picture this time! The blueberry-lemon Bundy cake was very yummy with only a tad bit o’ tart. The seating was very plentiful and all of the restaurant was , “white glove” sparkling clean with all staff alert and ready to help. Thank you for a wonderful dinning experience and I will be sure to be back for much much more! 🙌🏼🥇🥩
It was very good!! Had the spinach salad, the half chicken, which I could not finish with the potatoes and the gluten free peanut butter and jelly cookies!! I also tried the margarita pizza!! The crust is amazing! The only thing that was not good, was the broccoli that came with my chicken, I normally love broccoli in almost any form, but this form was not good. I will order the chicken again, but will definitely be asking for a different side. Service was excellent as well!!
Loved this place. First time here. It was pretty busy. If you wanted a table it was an hour wait. We decided on sitting at the bar. I ordered their spicy Nashville chicken sandwich with a side salad. It wasn't spicy enough but it was a great tasting sandwich
Cozy place for sure. Great atmosphere. The smell of burning wood was also great. Vast selection of 🍺 and 🍷. Sadly to say the food could have used some help. Will definitely go back again.
I really loved this place! I had previously seen the ratings on Google and was invited by a friend to join them for lunch. The ambiance was so nice. We ended up sitting in the main dining area. Dark and dim but lively atmosphere with amazing food aroma in the air. Has a Bay Area Palo Alto feel. We ended up ordering 2 appetizers and 2 meals and each dish was so good. We loved how we could watch the food coming out of the kitchen to make a decision on what we're going to order. They have all kinds of items on the menu: Meat, No Meat, and Vegetarian selections. Full dessert and drink menu. I also loved the market which gives you the chance to purchase the food you've tasted on the menu. Overall, I look forward to visiting again by bringing someone else in the future.
This place is no doubt one of the tastiest place to eat in the neighborhood. Every time I come there I am very pleased. They preserve their very high standard service and the highest level of meals they offer. You are always happy with this restaurant. Very recommended.
I loved it... The experience of being able to eat here was the greatest. Our server was fantastic and she was nice and polite to us. The food was amazing, the skirt steak was great and the Hamburger was great as well. The cornbread along with Chili Honey butter was fantastic and it was something I haven't seen done. Ill be coming back to eat here again!!!
Food came out timely, all so deliciously filling. Service was quick and attentive. Would definitely come back.
Excellent service and delicious steak! The cut was juicy and tender, served with a generous portion of fries and cooked veggies. They serve quality meat! Definitely the go-to steakhouse in the Stockton area. I even had a great laugh when I read their sign walking in the front door
Tried this place with friends on a spur of the moment night out! It was so so good! Our server made great recommendations for food! We went with the pizza, the Cobb salad, and ceaser salad. The cocktails were a little too small for the price. We ordered three desserts and every single one was YUMMY! We will be back!
We came to this spot for dinner. my friend recommended this place. Well, it was very successful. the staff members were so friendly and we had a fantastic feeling. The meal was yummy. We loved this restaurant a lot and we will definitely return to this restaurant. Warmly recommended.
Had a great experience here. Great service, nice selection of beers, and good food. Cornbread appetizer was recommended and was very delicious. Burgers are thick and good.
Great quality food and courteous prompt service. Awesome drinks and rotating menu. A true gem in the Central Valley.
Food and service were excellent. They were able to work a plan B with social distancing seating that works, and is comfortable. Highly recommend.
My boyfriend and i came here after leaving midgleys because they wouldnt seat us for happy hour. The service was GREAT!!! As soon as we got their we were seated and brought water and drinks were ordered. The cornbread appetizer was amazing and fresh and so were the fish tacos! Delicious food and great service. I love this place!!!
Even with the covid-19 the service is outstanding food was great..Bloodymary was off the chains...very pleased over all..
Great food. I had the beet salad and corn bread, they were on point! My wife has the skirt steak and she shared it with me and it was really good to. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable and differently matched the quality of food. If im ever in Stockton again ill be back.
It was really good. Elle was our server, she was really nice and attentive. I had the king salmon and the friend I was with had the cut of the day which was steak I believe both were delicious. The charcuterie board was good, mashed potatoes were plain, all in all $100
Really nice atmosphere. The food here is beyond amazing! Prices are very inexpensive for what you get. Definitely try the French toast you won't be disappointed
Wish I could rate this place higher because the food is great. The service is very slow and inattentive. Bring your own salt and pepper because even if they ask you if you need anything else and you ask for it, they won’t bring it. I would think maybe it was just a one time thing and let it go, but it has happened on multiple visits with different servers.
Awesome to sit outside and enjoy a meal in these times. Had the short ribs, cooked perfectly with tastey polenta and vegetables. Service was kind and knowledgeable. An overall great experience.
I have never been disappointed with the quality of the food or service. Waitstaff are attentive it don't hover. The food is unique and familiar at the same time.
We love Market Tavern, and have been coming at least once a week. The food is delicious, the staff are so warm and friendly, and everything is decent quality. We also love the lack of pretentiousness here. It is welcoming enough that we can bring our toddler in too. Highly recommend!
Had a wonderful meal here. Scallops special was delicious as was the hummus and pitas. Husband had fall salad and sausage pizza..he loved it all.
Good stuff! Ordered ahead and that double Angus burger (forgot what it was called) but it was delicious. Even though it took awhile for us to get home, the Buger tasted fresh. The fries unfortunately didn't survive the trip that well but that wasn't anybodys fault. Whenever we can dine in or outside again, I'd have to give the burger and fries another try since it will be Fresh. Now I see why people come here all the time. Great stuff!
The food is pricey but you can always share a plate to get quality taste while saving calories if your on a budget as we take this route at times. I usually like going to Sacramento to have a good dinner but the Market Tavern is beginning make me and my wife local patrons. Job Well done Market Tavern!!

Natalie was the best waitress we have had in a while, super nice and friendly and just great all around. This place is the only one I will eat at when in Stockton on a job. Quality food, made right, great wine list etc. Thanks for being here and making life a bit better! Highly recommended.
Delicious dinner at Market Tavern, Was invited to a party, I just loved every thing I tasted, they were so delicious. The staff were so nice and helpful.
Got the spinach and endive salad with salmon. Overall good but not something I'd rave about. Good flavor, very nice salad
Just passing through Stockton headed to Southern Cali. Food was great, service was very fast. Sat in the bar area at a high table and were able to get in/out within a half hour. Atmosphere was great, looked like a nice place to hang with friends. Would highly recommend taking the 5min detour off the freeway to eat here.
Where we was originally seated there was a table with about 8 people at it . One lady was drinking and so loud she was obnoxious. My wife has health issues and seizures. High pitched noises can trigger seizures . I asked our server Lisa if she could move us because of my wife's issue's. She was happy too ☺️. Now about the food. It was incredibly good. We will definitely be back
What a great find! The Monday night fried chicken special is not to be missed!! We don't often eat fried chicken but it was worth ordering! The chicken was not too greasy and cooked just right. A good selection of small plates. We loved the little store right in the building that is an extension of the restaurant.

One of our favorite restaurants in Stockton. Always amazing food and service the staff is amazing locally owned great fresh feel to table experience. The food is always amazing I haven't had anything I haven't loved. Very nice place. Great service and friendly staff a must go spot if you're in the Stockton area.
This place is great! I really look forward to eating there again, but I know now to make reservations if we want to go Sunday. (We got in with no problem first thing during the week). We ordered house made breakfast sausage, poached eggs, potatoes and toast. Everything was soooo good! I especially loved their house made jam. Highly recommended!
Absolute excellence! Amazing food, incredible service, and perfect atmosphere to enjoy a delicious lunch! The servers were incredible and very attentive. The seating is very welcoming and you feel like an invited guest the minute you walk in. Food was served quickly despite being busy and was customized as requested and cooked to perfection! A must visit for everyone when exploring the Lincoln Center or when visiting Stockton.
A wonderful lunch spot. Love their pizzas and had the fish tacos today. Very creative and healthy options. One of my favorites.
I’ve had breakfast here many times so when my friends came to visit this was where I took them. They were so impressed. We ordered many items (biscuits and gravy, lemon/blueberry pancakes, French toast w/banana and a butter brown sugar sauce, avocado toast with smoked salmon, scramble, fresh squeezed grapefruit juice...). One friend commented on how surprised she was that every single item was really delicious! The waitresses and even manager made us feel welcomed and cared for. I love this spot and wish Stockton had more trendy places like this.
Expensive. Be prepared to spend some money. We was told our table was reserved for 1.5 hours and would have to move or make more reservations for another table. 7pm came and went and was never told to move 🤷♂️. Guess it depends on how busy they are. I had the pork chops, good but not worth $32. Still a good every once in a while experience
I gave this place way too much credit from the beginning! Just because it is in the Lincoln Center does not make it top notch! We arrived without a reservation and was seated in the very first booth looking right into the parking lot. This table was also directly under one of the televisions. I have this thing....I check things above me in any restaurant I go to, it kind of gives me a feel for how clean a place will be. Sometimes, I wish I didn't. I look above me to the television and I see the bottom side caked with dirt and dust clumps. Ewwe. Our waitress at first impression was polite and took our drink order promptly, although it took a little longer to actually get the drinks. Most of the glasses were clean, at least I would like to believe except the glass that had the shot of vodka from the well. There was visible residue left at the top of the glasses along with smudged fingerprints and floaters in the drink. We asked for another one because of the foreign objects we discovered and when given the other glass, there was no fingerprints, but now even more floaters in the drink. Politely we asked again for another and our waitress seemed gracious enough and apologetic. She brought the new one and assured us it was poured from a new bottle. Thank you! The food was nothing to be desired especially for the prices you payed and such small portions. I'm talking really small portions. I ordered the braised short ribs and literally got one rib.
A wonderful cool escape during a real hot Stockton afternoon. How to cool off? Looking for a Gin & Tonic we tried the Tavern Tonic on their specialty menu and were not disappointed! Exactly the right blend to cool you down and quench that thirst! A perfect escape from the heat!
This restaurant is decorated very nice inside. You can see the cooks preparing the food across from your table. The atmosphere is very warm and the waitresses make you feel right at home. The brick oven pizza was very good and it even had a salty taste to it which was different. The chicken sandwich was good but they do put coleslaw on it which I felt didn't help the taste. Also they use sweet pickles on that sandwich so some people might not like that. If you like sea salt then get the french fries. If you want something to go stop by the deli as they have some of the same food you can take home. Overall a very nice restaurant with seating outside.
I would highly recommend making reservations for the weekend because this place gets filled. Food is so good and the prices are on point. Portions were so big that we didn't have room for dessert. I will definitely be back when I'm back in Stockton.
The quality and flavor of their Mushroom wood fired pizza, chicken tortilla soup and lemon meringue pie left me wanting to sample all else on their menu. Unique appetizers, entrées, & salads. Enjoyed outdoor dining with patio heater. Accommodating staff with attention to details. Thank-you to server Jasmine.
A nice place with good food! Like the elegant modern look, but a little bit too dark for my taste. Just needs a couple more light bulbs lit up and 👌
We had a fantastic evening there. Dining at the bar and enjoying the conversations with those around us. Everyone there was in such a great mood. The food was very good, and the cocktails were great. Always a nice place to visit.
Always a great time. Very friendly staff that take that extra step to make your dining experience very enjoyable. Along with that an excellent menu. Thanks again for a great night out. See you soon.
We enjoyed our dining experience at the Market Tavern. Our food was very tasty. I ordered the braised beef rib, which was tender and delicious; my husband ordered the pork chop which was delicious as well; and our son ordered a sausage pizza and he devoured the whole pizza that could have been shared or leftovers taken home. He said it was delicious he loved the sausage flavor. He normally doesn't eat that much. The service and atmosphere are great. We were happy 1st time diners and will be returning.
First time here and sadly, not impressed! Walked in and the hostess failed to greet. I politely gave her sometime but I had to eventually say hello to get her attention. Once seated, our waitress was even less enthusiastic. But hey, it’s a busy night, she might be tired. I absolutely wanted to love the food and was craving a steak. Ordered the Rib Eye but it was chard and had zero flavor. It was tough to eat. I took maybe 3 bites before I couldn’t eat it any longer. I was hungry so I bit into my sons “Cab” burger and boy was that delicious. Over all, not with the $217 tab. I’ve paid a lot more at other places and the food withstood there price. Here, not so much! Will not be back.
I was there to meet with 2 clients, who called me while they where having lunch. They needed my services and I was in the area and was able to meet them there and take care of things for them. It pays to be a mobile for my business as a Notary Public. And the people who work here at Market Tavern are very nice, as the manager even came by the table to see if they needed anything as we where sitting at one of the tables outside. And I do want to thank them for the great job they're doing for their guests who come there.
We went for Thanksgiving and they had a set menu of a 3 course meal at $55 a plate. I ordered the ham and a turkey dinner to take home. I was disappointed in the quality. It didn't look to appealing either. I have always been satisfied with Market Tavern, but not last night. The Brussels sprouts and dressing were so greasy you could only eat a few, the ham was fatty and greasy. The only thing that was good was the mashed potatoes and what was bizarre there were no dinner rolls or bread. But our waitress was great, and I like the atmosphere. Older crowd and yes I will go back! This was the only bad meal I've had here. Market Tavern is located at 236 Lincoln Center in north Stockton on the corner if Pacific and Benjamin Holt
Market Tavern is a really good restaurant. I tried a few menu items, and I enjoyed each item. The cornbread was prepared in a way I never tried, but it was really good and moist. The doughnuts were really good as well. Long story short, my friend and I enjoyed the entire dining experience. The waitress was really nice and attentive the entire time. She recommended most of the items we tried, and finished it off with the Key Lime Pie. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
