It takes something special to start a restaurant that people love. It's even harder to do in today's environment. These five new hot spots in Stockton have created something special that Yelp reviewers are loving.

1. Captain Crab Seafood & Bar

No it's not a new superhero show on the CW, but fans on Yelp do liken Captain Crab to a seafood superhero. The most popular dish is the Ultimate Captain Special, a family-sized feast which lets guests choose a pound each of three different seafood main courses plus corn and potato sides for $55.

2. Nikki’s Create-A-Bowl

Nikki's Create-A-Bowl is one of the newest food trucks in Stockton, and has opened to rave reviews. The woman-owned truck specializes in Cambodian cuisine with a huge mix and match selection of rice bowls you can create yourself. Cambodian cuisine is starting to gain traction in the US, and fans of the food are going for the steak with prahok sauce, a delicacy that reviewers of Nikki's love.

3. The Musubi Café

Open since November, The Musubi Café has an Asian fusion and Hawaiian menu with some fun combinations. The Spam Musubi is a popular dish with reviewers, especially the loaded, supreme and fire varieties. They have a large selection of other musubis too, so you can really explore the cuisine.

4. La Mesa - A Mexican Kitchen

Good Mexican food creates such a loyal following, it can be hard to break into that market. However, La Mesa - A Mexican Kitchen is doing just that. Their entire menu is earning positive reviews, but the beef molé is a standout entree, while the chips and salsa verdé starters have been described as "addicting" by multiple Yelpers.

If you're a wing-lover, then you'll definitely want to visit Honey Wings. It's not really fair to call it a "wing place" however as they also have a huge selection of French fries and sandwiches, plus shakes, smoothies and teas. Reviewers agree that the wings are on point, as is the customer service.
